Genre Choice
There is many different genres of films that my group and I reviewed and looked over. The genres we went over was action, comedy, and mystery. Understanding what these genres are is very important to the development of the recreational movie that we re subjected to create. After gathering information about action we concluded that the production to make one is very action packed as it is in the title. Camera angles, sounds, and transitions is very intense in these films. To mimic this, it will require extra planning ahead for what props, sounds, and plans for post development regarding the editing process. Quick transitions, loud bangs and claps tell the audience that it is indeed an action movie. My group and I rather strayed away from this genre as it did not fit our theme. We then looked at comedy to see what it brought to the table. There is countless of comedic packed films that never fail to amuse my partner and I nor others. Additionally, we observed that comedic movies contained mostly well-lit areas, variety of transitions depending on scenes, and dependent sounds. In other words meaning that comedy films can be flexible due to its features and the arrangement of ways it could be presented. Therefore, making it easier to plan ahead with my partner to ideate. Moods and tones in comedy movies are most often times chill and relaxed unlike action movies, fitting our style a better. The last genre we looked at was mystery. Mystery films consists of absent murderers, premature suspects, etc. In these films actors wear dark colored clothing, does not wear makeup, and always in a recognizable setting. These types of movies are very weary but intriguing to the viewers leaving them on a "cliffhanger". My group and I came to the final analysis that this genre can be a little too suspenseful and boring to make. This led us to the decision of going with making a comedic movie and we cannot wait to begin!
